F451 ESSAY!!!

          The story of Fahrenheit 451 uses a lot of different language to explain how Montag's inner world is different from the world around him. A big part of the language used by Bradbury is  imagery. Its used to give the reader a clear image of what the situation actually looks like. To explain Montag's inner world are metaphors. Bradbury is a genius when it comes to language and getting an image or message across.
          First type of language is imagery. Now we see this throughout the whole book. Its interesting because every time we see it, it's written a different way. When Bradbury explains the world that Montag is living in we can imagine it in our heads. And when Bradbury writes about the world that is inside of Montag we clearly see the difference. With all the books and thoughts inside of Montag we can tell right away the he is not just living in one world. Thats the thing about Bradbury's use of imagery, you can see a perfect picture.
          As well as Bradbury uses imagery to describe the two world that Montag lives in he also uses metaphors. Metaphors are worlds that most of the times includes "like" or "as" just to compare two things. Bradbury uses metaphors to also give the reader an image but also to describe it in a way that the reader will understand the reality of the situation. When Bradbury uses metaphors he relates the situation to something that he wants the reader to imagine.
          Bradbury's use of syntax also help explain the difference of the two different worlds that Montag lives in. The syntax is basically the whole stories way of expressing the description of the two worlds. Syntax is also used throughout the whole story like imagery and metaphors.
          So there are a lot of ways that Bradbury uses language in this story. And he uses them very well to describe the two worlds that Montag lives in. He uses imagery to give a clear image of what the two worlds are like and he uses metaphors to describe them in other ways a reader might understand. Bradbury's use of syntax also help a lot in the story as far as description.

A Step Ahead Of The Hound

1. He planted a book in the black's house the firefighters can find it and burn the house.
2. Faber describes the war as only in the air. There are no fights in the ground.
3. Faber's tv is small
4. While montag was on the run there was the hound chasing him on tv.

I think that by the end of the book Montag is going to die. The only thing he really had left from his life is 4 books. I don't believe he will stay alive and even if he did he is a fugitive with one leg. He cant get very far. By the end of the book I predict that Montag will be either dead or in jail.

The Chase is On!!

1. The hound attacked Montag because he just killed Beatty.
2. Montag defended himself from the hound by turning the flamethrower on it too. He killed it but it managed to bite him in the leg.
3. Montag realized that Beatty had a death wish
4. Montag went to get the books that he hid in the garden and that Mildred missed.
5. Montag almost got run over by kids who were driving when he crossed the street.

Montag Kills!!!

I believe that Montag turned the flamethrower on Beatty for a few different reasons. First was because montag thought that beatty would be a good friend and in a way he wasn't because he didnt help montag deal with his problem. Another reason is because of the way he was talking to him. Beatty was being jerk and with all the stress montag has had throughout the whole book it was probably a sense of relief for him. The last reason is because Montag's life is slowly falling apart. His wife gave him up and left him and he has no one left to talk to. A man is capable of bad things if he loses everything and has nothing to live for.

1. Montag is much more interested in the books than Mildred. She just wants to leave.

1. I think bradbury started the novel this way to show readers how different Montag's society is to ours. It is more pleasurable for them to burn books for them because they have no more use to them.
2. In the opening scene, books are compared to birds because they can both guve people thoughts and give ideas.
3. Montag's life is different from Clarisse's because montag feels alone and like his life is boring while clarisse lives in a loud house full of laughter.
4. Everything that montag describes is something that we have today. Technology doesn't improve the life of montag, maybe at his job but not with his wife. It keeps them distant.
5. The narrator introduced us to Montag in this time of his life to help us understand the society and to show how not good Montags life is even with all of the improvements of technology.
6. I think Clarisse was introduced before Mildred because Clarisse is curious about the past and it seems as if she is the only one.
7. All houses are fireproof for safety reasons for the firefighters so when they burn the house, the house wouldn't burn just the books.
8. Mildred requires emergency service because she overdosed and she recieves help from a doctor that goes to their house and acts like that's a normal thing in that society.
9. The mechanical hound is a hound that is made to follow Montag's orders.
10. The society considers Clarisse as anti-social because she doesn't really talk and she wants to know more about the past and how things used to be.
11. When the women's house is raided she lights a match because she doesn't want to live without her books.
12. Montag and Mildred's relationship is not good because their lives are different and in the beginning Mildred tried to commit suicide to obviously she is not happy.
13. Beatty starts to realize that Montag is getting more attracted to books.
14. The only reason that books wouldn't make people equal is that people reading them would probably be smarter.
15. Montag feels fat because he isn't comfortable in the society.

F451 Guiding Questions Ch 1

1) Montag lives in a very different society than ours. He burns books for a living so you can predict that technology has taken over mostly everything in his world. I guess its similiar to our society by the things that there are but the difference is that they work in completely different ways. For example firefighters, in our society they put out fires but in Montag's they start them. Like what i said about technology that is a sign that Montag's society is a dystopia.
2) Clarisse can be seen as special in different ways. I find her special because of the questions she asks Montag. She is different from most people because unlike them she wants to know about the past. But she will most likely not find out because of the people like Montag.
3) i think that the mechanical hound is programmed to follow montag so no one else can tell it what to do.

WHAT I SEE IN LITERATURE

Both Gastby and Prufrock showed a lot if imagery. A lot of things that had so much meaning. After reviewing both writings we found some similarities that explained the theme for both of them. The green light and the yellow mist had some similarities. It shows how the characters are chasing something but never reach it and the gives readers a better understanding. Both stories also show that the characters dont know if they should tell another person their feelings. It helps us understand where the character is at in themselves and how much they want something. This can help us understand the character itself more. The stories also show 2 sides of how people live one being rich and the other poor. Knowing this gives us more knowledge of why the characters act the way they do. That helps readers understand more about the theme and why it was put that way.

This poem is something unique. He describes his love in a way that I haven't seen too many times.

Gatsby Chapter 3 Remix!

Most of Chapter 3 took place at Gatsby's party. Gatsby was a host that didn't really show himself much at his parties. Nick wanted to meet and when he met him he was suprised because he did not expect him look the way he did. Gatsby was in his 30s and turns out that he had actually already met Nick. The way Nick described Gatsby was unlike any other character in the book and Nick made Gatsby one of a kind.

This chapter reminds me of most parties that i go to because they are not like the parties that Gatsby throws. When i go to a party we usually get greeted by the person who is throwing the party. And they usually are seen a lot throughout the party.
When i read how Nick described Gatsby it reminded me of the first time i saw my son. He was unlike anyone I've seen before. Yes he looked weird because he was 2 seconds old but it was just an amazing feeling and he was one of a kind.

Nicks meets Gatsby at the party.
Gatsby isn't like all the other characters that Nick has described in the story.

Nick goes to a place he is not used to.
Nick sees more of Tom that he didn't expect.
We notice that Tom likes to drink and cheates on his wife.

Nick- a guy who admires Gatsby. He goes to college and moves to New York.
Daisy- Nicks cousin who married a rich guy
Gatsby- a person who Nick looks up to. I dont really know about him yet.

Chapter 1 has just mostly been about Nick and how he grew up and how his cousin is living.

This part of the chapter had more words that i didn't understand.
It showed the exact opposite of how the narrators life was.

Theres a quote in the story that really came out at me. "Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the same advantages that you've had"
This is a good quote for people of this generation because there is a lot of judgement.
Another thing i noticed is that there is a lot of imagery in this story.

We are naturalists in our own and unique way
We hide our deepest secrets, but never go away
We can only change how we deal with them
Our past always has a way of coming back to haunt us

People can’t always be who they want because of society
Our thoughts aren't always right
There is always some kind of assurance we see

How do we choose between what we want and what we need?
Others do it in their own way
Sometimes we feel pressured to make the right decision
But we never look back and see, there are others in the same position

There is naturalism in things we do because it is about reputation
Lying to ourselves can make us suffer
The things we do are for a reason and not everyone will understand

We have all once felt like we need to be perfect
When we hear the word Naturalism we feel the urge to feel perfect
We all have freedom but choose to not use it
Everyone will tell you, it’s your decision to listen or not….

Everything is a Remix

You can remix just about anything and upload it to the internet. A remix is when you combine things that already exist. To create something new you need domain knowledge and copying.  People have also created somethings by using transformation.
