Immigrants in our own land first impression

This poem gave me a strong first impression. It gave me the impression that once you go to prison it is almost impossible to be the same person you went in as. In other words that it is impossible to stay the same person when you are in a bad environment like a prison.

MY MAD DREAM OF AN ESSAY

          Choices are things that we need to pay very close attention to in our lives. It affects every single thing that we can imagine. It affects who we get involved with, what we do, how we talk, and everything else. Choices will either make our lives really good or really bad. It all depends on you because you make your own choices and no one else can decide what you want for yourself.
          I've made a lot of choices in my life but i think the most important one was having a kid. Me having a kid changed me completely and also changed my life. That choice is important because its going to affect my future and what I'm going to do. Every choice that we make matters because it controls everything in our future. Having a kid was my choice and no none else's and now i have decisions to make about my future.
          There are a lot of examples of choices in Emerson's On Self Reliance. One of them is to make the decision for yourself to not be afraid to share a thought that you have. Those kind of choices are difficult because you are thinking in your head about it and no on else knows. But you have to think about how those decisions because they are going to lead to what is going to happen in the future.
          There are also examples of choices in A Sound of Thunder. One example is when Eckles decided to run away when they saw the dinosaur. That was his decision, no one provoked him and that decision led to his future. When he ran he fell off the path and killed a butterfly. Eckles made the decision to run now he has to face his future. The dead butterfly caused the president to change. No matter how small the choice, it can make a big difference in your future.
          All the choices we make in our lives are going to make up who we are and how we will affect everyone in our lives. Our choices will lead us to our future weather its good or bad. Every choice is going to impact our lives in some way.

"A Sound of Thunder" Vocabulary Vignette

There was once a man who lived in a cavernous hole on a mountain. He had taloned like nails and he looked like a caveman because he had been living inside that hole for so long. Since he hadn't spoken to another human in a long time he began to hallucinate and see salamanders and began to say paradox things. One day he decided to go to the bottom of the mountain which he hadn't done in 30 years. As he went down the mountain the path was so rough that the rocks poked his feet and left blisters on his toes. He had to walk warily because the mountain was not fit for humans to walk on. The merest wrong move and he would plunge down 600 feet to the ground. He was very uneducated that he would often wonder that if he fell if he would resilient back to the top, but of course he never tried it. It was late at night when he reached the bottom, the moon was up and there were no stars in the sky. He found that to be strange but then he saw that there was an aurora. He hadn't seen anything like that in so long that he just stood and stared at it for so long. For that moment he felt that sense of life that he was looking for. All of a sudden it began teeming with deadly insects all around him and he just stood staring at the sky while the insects punctured him all around his body. He began to quaver but still stared at the sky, he finally fell to the ground, closed his eyes, and accepted his fate.

An Earthshattering Fart

I liked the story "A Sound of Thunder". I think it has a very important meaning. That even the smallest change can make a big difference. Like when Eckles stepped off the path he didnt think it would have made a big difference. But when they came back to the present he noticed that he killed a butterfly and it caused a different person to be president than when he left.

Emerson's Child

How would Emerson view the 2016 Presidential Election? How would he suggest we move forward as individuals, as a community, and as a country?

          Some people view the 2016 Presidential Election as the worst election in U.S. history. I agree in some way but don't really understand what the 2 candidates have that would make them capable of running the country. As other people in America believe this too I believe that if Emerson were still alive today i don't believe he would like this election very much. Both the candidates are hated by half the country so it doesn't matter who got elected, this is not the best that the country could have done.
          I strongly believe that Emerson would view the 2016 election as a separation of the people all around the U.S. Emerson is a man who understands the concepts of building up yourself. And his ideas for that are different than the ideas that the candidates have on building up the nation. Even though they are 2 separate things to build up, Emerson would not agree with the candidates so he will also not view the election as something good for the country.
          Emerson would have a lot of advice for us to move forward as individuals. After the election we have to move forward by just going through our everyday life. He would suggest to just continue as ourselves despite the opinions we had on the election. As a community I believe that it would be somewhat the same thing. To just move forward being the community we have always been, if not better. But to move on as a country is a whole different thing.
          Emerson would probably believe that it is going to be more difficult for the country to move on. I believe that Emerson's ideas would not work on this one because of all the different opinions that the people have. Emerson would suggest that we just agree on something that we can all agree on but that wont work because this country is now divided. With a divided country we can't move forward.
          Emerson would view the presidential election as a bad thing for the U.S. We can move forward as individuals buy just sticking to our regular lives and just be ourselves. Now to move forward as a community, Emerson would suggest we should just be the same community, if not better. But Emerson's ideas would not help the country move forward because people have different opinions and with the election this country now seems separated. Emerson would suggest a lot of things but I don't believe anything can help the country move forward together despite the election.

Joseph made a good point in his presentation yesterday. he said that being misunderstood is not a bad thing.

EMERSON FOR THE YOUNG BUCK

Emerson's essay on Self-Reliance is about being yourself. Do what you like even if other people get annoyed by it. Do not try to be like anyone else. Don't think just because you are still young that you are dumb because you know things that some adults might not. If you are jealous of someone right now you will soon realize that it is dumb. Do not look for good things in other people, look for good things in yourself and find a way to show it to the world.

I believe that Emerson is saying we are afraid to share our opinions because we don't know if its right. He is also saying that we see out thoughts in other great pieces of work that people do and now we feel bad because we didn't have the guts to say it.

this quote states that everyone is trying to be like someone else that no one gets anywhere, they all just do the same thing.

this quote states that we learn to do bad on our own and that's when we become some sort a devil's child.

this quote states that society is bringing more and more things that can possibly ruin our chances for opportunities in life.

this quote states that every person will soon realize that jealousy is stupid and we should just do what we like and not try to be like anyone else.  

Im Self Reliant

After reading Emerson's essay on self reliance i found my self agreeing with a lot of his ideas. I believe Emerson knew exactly what was wrong with people. They are afraid to share their thoughts and that makes them feel not important.
